Dossier № 23: Order in the archive

Nationaal Archief Den Haag, Archief Graven van Holland 2139

Introduction

The life of an archivist is not easy, especially when employed by the counts of Henegouwen, Holland and Zeeland. He manages the most important legal titles of his masters, which were kept in the two residences Le Quesnoy and The Hague. So how do you know which charter lies where? In 1378, the Hague clerk compiled a survey of all charters in Henegouwen. With a clear reference system, this volume should make it possible to find all charters quickly.
