Modern Translation
Regest: 1378, c. 1 October. Introduction to an inventory of the charters of Holland and Zeeland located in the count's archive of Le Quesnoy.
These are the charters relating to Holland, Zeeland and the Land of Woerden that were in the tresorie of Le Quesnoy. These were located there around St Bavo's Day (1 October) 1378. One should know that the charters are located in several cabinets with a number expressed in (Roman) letters on them, e.g. one, two, III and so on. And the charters are marked with a numerical number: 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on. And one should also know that on the back of each charter is the number that stands for each description below, and is located in the case that is mentioned there in Roman numerals. One must be very careful to put the charter back in the right place, otherwise this inventory will be ruined.
