Philip, by the grace of God duke of Burgundy, of [Lower] Lorraine, of Brabant and of Limburg, count of Flanders, of Artesia, palatine count of Burgundy, count of Namur, margrave of the Holy Empire, lord of Salins and of Mechelen, ruwaard and heir of Henegouwen, of Holland, of Zealand and of Friesland make known to all.

Because the treaty and agreement, concluded at Delft between our dear, beloved sister wife Jacoba, Duchess in Bavaria, her lands, counties and subjects on the one hand, and us, our subjects and friends on the other hand, implies in an article, that our said sister may not make plans for marriage and may not marry a man, unless we consent and give permission, [we stipulate] that we do not wish in any way to prevent our sister from her marriage, that we approve, permit, consent, and are satisfied that she may marry and marry a man wherever and whenever she wishes, desires, or it pleases her, without thereby losing her lands, goods, or lordships to us or to our lawful, kindred heirs, nor shall she be charged therewith, or persecuted for this reason, or be said that the said kiss is broken by her, or less valid.

We absolve our sister with this letter of all promises and covenants she has to us in respect of her said marriage. The exception is always that she does not marry a man who is, or has been, an enemy of us or our lands. This letter counts as testimony, as does our secret seal, attached to it in the absence of our great seal. Adopted on 12 April
