General Rules for the Critical-Normalized Transcription (not applicable in the paleo-app):
- For corrections (strikethroughs, insertions) in the text, the most recent version of the text is printed, with an explanation in a footnote. This rule does not apply in the paleo-app.
- Marginal notes are presented in a footnote. - If text is illegible, the missing letters or words are placed in [ ]. If text restoration is not possible, ellipsis points [....] are used.
The transcription you enter is compared with the reference text. Correctly transcribed sections will appear in the results box. Any discrepancies or omissions are indicated with an ellipsis ("..."). This applies for entire lines, individual characters, or minor errors. If 'Ignore Punctuation' is selected, the transcription checker will disregard periods, commas, and other punctuation marks.
If 'Ignore Case Differences' is selected, the transcription checkers will treat all letters as lowercase.
